How To Use Reader Mode in Safari on the iPhone and iPad

Safari Reader Mode is a great feature! Safari Reader Mode removes all the clutter of a webpage so you can focus on the content you’re reading. You can even change the font, font size and page color to suit your reading habits and vision.

How To Enable Reader Mode

Safari Reader is only available when viewing an article on a website, so navigate to your favorite site and tap to open a specific news story.

1. Launch Safari from your Home Screen.

2. Navigate to the website article you want to read.

3. Tap on Safari Reader Mode button. It’s on the left side of the
address bar and looks like a series of stacked lines.

As you can see, Safari Reader replaces the entire website layout with a simple white background, black text, and no clutter beyond the article itself. You can simply scroll through the article and read it, making the online reading experience much better on mobile devices.

To disable Safari Reader mode, just tap on the Reader Mode button again.

How To Change Font and Font Size

1. Launch Safari from your Home Screen.

2. Navigate to the website article you’d like to
read.

3. Tap the Reader Mode button it’s on the left side
of the address bar. It looks like a series of lines.

4. Tap on the double A’s on the right of the address bar.

5. Tap on either of the A’s in the menu to change
the font to one of two sizes.

6. Tap one of the eight font choices.

How to Change the Page Color

The background color options change both Safari Reader’s background color and font color. There is the default “white” option, “Sepia”, “Gray” and finally “Black”. You can change things to your liking.

1. Launch Safari from your Home screen.

2. Navigate to the website article you’d like to read.

3. Tap the Reader Mode button it’s on the left side
of the address bar. It looks like a series of lines.

4. Tap on the double A’s on the right of the address bar.

5. Tap one of the 4 page colors choices.
