How To Set Up and Manage Reminders With Siri

If you want to alert yourself to an important meeting, pickup milk on your way home, or order a birthday gift in the next few days, Apple makes it easy enough to do using it’s built in Reminders app. All it takes is a few taps to enter a task or set an alert. Now it’s even easier with Siri, Apple’s Personal Assistant. Siri can be summoned by pressing and holding the home button on any iPhone and if you have a newer model 6s or later you can just say “Hey Siri” and she’s at your command.

How To Create Time Based Reminders

When it comes to creating quick time based reminders, nothing beats Siri when it comes to speed and convenience. It’s much faster to harness Siri than tapping your way through the Reminders app.

1. Press and hold down the Home Button to activate Siri. If you have an iPhone 6s or newer you have the option to say “Hey       Siri”.

2. Speak what you want to be reminded about and when. Example: “Remind me to call the dentist at 10am.”

3. Tap Remove if you want to cancel the reminder.

The reminder will go directly into the default Reminders list. This will be Reminders If you choose to have another list be your default, go to Settings>Reminders>Default List to set that up.

How To Create Location-Based Reminders

Siri can also alert you based on your location, when you arrive and when you leave a place. This is extremely useful for remembering something when you reach the store or a departing work for home.

1. Press and hold the Home Button to Activate Siri or just say “Hey Siri”.

2. Speak what you want to be reminded and where. Example: “Remind me to feed the cat when I get home” or “Remind me to stop at the Store when I leave work”.

3. To cancel the reminder tap Remove.

As with the standard Reminders, the location Reminder will go into the default Reminders list. If you make a mistake you can revise something by telling Siri “change the time to, change the date to or simply cancel.

Important Note: For this to work, both Siri and Location Services need to be enabled. Go to Settings>Siri and turn the toggle switch on. Go To Settings>Privacy>Location Services>Scroll to Reminders and choose While Using, in the upper left corner tap Privacy, scroll to Siri & Dictation and choose While Using.

How To Create Reminders In A Specific List

1. Press and hold the Home Button to Activate Siri or just say “Hey Siri”.

2. Speak what you want to be reminded about in which list you want it to go. Example: “ Add bread to the grocery list.”

Use Siri To Remember Things From Apps

A little confusing but Siri can remind you of “this” where “this” is almost anything you’re looking at when you invoke Siri.

1. Go to the content you want to remember.

2. Press and hold the Home Button to Activate Siri or just say “Hey Siri”.

3. Say “Remind me of this”

Siri will add it to Reminders with a link to the app and the specific content.
