What Did Apple Announce on Tuesday?

Apple announced the most highly anticipated iPhones yet at the big event on Tuesday. The high-end model known as the iPhone X (pronounced iPhone ten), with a screen that stretches from edge to edge and gets rid of the home button that’s been on all iPhones since 2007.

iPhone X

The phone features  a “Super Retina” display with 2.7 million pixels, the highest resolution in pixel density of any iPhone.

Without a Home Button the phone wakes up with a tap and users can activate Face ID, which identifies users with a 1 in a million chance of mistakes. Siri can be activated with a larger side button or the typical pronouncement of “Hey Siri”.

Face ID won’t work if you’re looking away but does work with new hairstyles, hats and facial hair. The feature works with Apple Pay and the sensors can animate emojis. The phone also has 3D touch.

The cost is steep for the new iPhone X starting at $999

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus

The new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus come with aerospace grade materials. The super strong glass exterior is reinforced with steel, it also has a better display and speakers.

Apple has also introduced Air Power which will allow for wireless charging on many devices. The system will be released early next year.

New sensors in the dual camera, will help these phones take better pictures and video with less noise.

The A11 Bionic Processor is a powerful chip, that’s between 25 and 70 percent faster than last years iPhones.

Apple starts taking orders on Sept. 15:

The new set top box supports sharper resolution 4K TV shows and movies.

Apple is bringing live sports and news to the TV and is working with Hollywood studios and streaming services like Netflix to get sharper resolution content.

You’ll be able to place orders on Sept 15:

Apple Watch

The new Apple Watch Series 3 now has built in cellular. You won’t need to have your phone on you to make a call or text a message. You will also be able to stream millions of songs.

The size is the same as the Series 2 and it will be connected to the same number your use on your iPhone.

Apple is also adding new measurements to the heart rate readings such as recovery heart rate. It will also be able to determine if you are having an arrythmia or your heart rate changes drastically.

Without Cellular $329
With Cellular $399 (there will also be an additional charge from your carrier, which seems to be about $10 a month) Many carriers are offering the first 3 months for free.
