How To Effectively Use Do Not Disturb in iOS 12

With iOS 12, Apple has given users some exciting new features around it’s Do Not Disturb options.

With Do Not Disturb, your iPhone or iPad will keep collecting all of your alerts, but will do it quietly. Whether you’re at the movies, a romantic dinner or simply trying to get your rest. When your event is finished you’ll find all of your alerts waiting for you.

How To Enable Do Not Disturb on iPhone and iPad

When you don’t want to hear a sound from your iPhone or iPad— while you’re in a movie theater, a meeting or out to dinner with friends, just turn on Do Not Disturb.

Swipe down from the right corner of your screen to launch the Control Center

• Tap the Do Not Disturb button (looks like a crescent moon), this enables your Do Not Disturb settings.

Note: You can also 3D Touch (long push) the Do Not Disturb button to quickly access the features.

How To Schedule Do Not Disturb For Specific Times

You can also turn on Do Not Disturb automatically, so you can attend a meeting, workout undisturbed or just catch up on your sleep.

• Launch Settings app

• Select Do Not Disturb

• Tap the Scheduled switch On to activate the scheduling feature.

• Tap the blue times below scheduled

• Swipe up or down to select the corresponding times when you’d like Do Not Disturb to be active.

How To Customize Do Not Disturb Settings

• Launch Settings app

• Tap Do Not Disturb

• Tap on Allow Call From

Allow Calls From

• From here you can select these options:

• Everyone: allow calls from All contacts

• No One: Allow calls from no one

• Favorites: allow calls from your favorites list

• Groups: A specific group of contacts

• Tap the Repeated Calls switch to on to allow calls from the same number, if received within 3 minutes of the first call.

• Tap on either of the Silence options to select your choice.

Always: Calls and notifications are always silent

Only while iPhone is locked: Calls and notifications are silent only when iPhone is locked.

Repeat calls

If you have a meeting scheduled you can choose the option “Until the end of this event”. As soon as the meeting is over, your iPhone or iPad will go back to normal mode.

End of event

Sometimes meetings run late, so be careful of using until I leave this location, if the meeting room is in close proximity to your office the location may not change, you may need to disable Do Not Disturb manually.
